WARANGAL: The Congress government remains steadfast in its commitment to women’s empowerment. While former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy aimed to make women lakhpatis, current Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision is to empower one crore women to become crorepatis, said revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.

Accompanied by IT minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, local MLA Gandra Satyanarayana Rao, district collector Rahul Sharma, and superintendent of police Kiran Khare, minister Srinivas Reddy on Monday inaugurated the new police station at Gori Kothapalli mandal headquarters and laid the foundation stone for a bus stand in the newly formed Chelpur mandal in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.

At the public meeting that followed, he noted that despite inheriting a debt of ₹8 lakh crore from the previous BRS government, the Congress administration has waived ₹21,000 crore of farmers’ loans within 10 months and credited ₹9,000 crore directly into their accounts under Rythu Bharosa in just nine days. He assured that eligible poor families would receive Indiramma houses in phases, with funds being deposited into beneficiaries’ accounts every Monday, and pledged to fulfil all remaining promises in the coming days.

The minister also committed to resolving the 180 acre “Karnala Kunta” land dispute and urged continued public support for the Congress in the upcoming local body elections, just as voters backed the party in the assembly polls.

IT minister Sridhar Babu highlighted that development and welfare have been the government’s twin priorities over the past year. He recalled that under the previous regime, many eligible citizens struggled to obtain ration cards and Indiramma houses. To date, the government has sanctioned 3,500 houses for the Bhupalpally constituency, made 15,000 corrections to existing ration cards, and approved 5,000 new ones, ensuring all eligible poor families will soon have homes.

He added that the Chelpur bus stand will be built at a cost of ₹5.5 crore funded by KTPP CSR, and that an integrated school for underprivileged students will follow at an estimated cost of ₹200 crore. The state also plans to establish a 60 acre industrial park in Ganapuram, reserving 20 acres for mini industries run by women, and encouraged women entrepreneurs to take full advantage of available government subsidies.
