In view of the increasing power demand across the country, the Deputy Chief Minister conducted a review meeting with senior officials of the Energy department at Praja Bhavan on the state’s power supply situation.

Officials informed the minister that along with soaring temperatures, the usage of air conditioners and coolers in homes and offices has increased significantly. This, combined with agricultural requirements, has put additional pressure on the power grid.

Despite the nationwide stress on the electricity market, the Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to procure additional power through power exchanges to ensure there is no shortage for the state’s needs.

He emphasized that there should be no interruption in power supply to hospitals, drinking water supply schemes, and other essential services, and called for continuous monitoring. He also instructed that all available power generation units in the state be utilized to their full capacity and that hydropower generation be managed efficiently.

With temperatures expected to rise further in the coming days, he advised all power utilities to work in coordination and prepare advance plans. Officials assured the minister that the state’s power system remains stable and that adequate arrangements are in place to meet any challenges.

The Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to closely monitor the situation and take all necessary steps to ensure a reliable and quality power supply to all categories of consumers. Reiterating that providing quality power is the government’s top priority, he also instructed field-level staff to remain constantly alert.
