A 25-year-old stuntman was killed and four others were seriously injured during the shooting of a Tamil film in Otteri on Wednesday (June 3, 2026).

The city police said that a stunt sequence for the upcoming Tamil film Killer, directed by S.J. Suryah, was being shot at the Binny Mills complex in Otteri on Wednesday morning. A large number of crew members were transferring carbon dioxide gas from a large cylinder to a smaller one for a fight sequence set within a ring of fire. During the transfer, one of the cylinders exploded.

In the explosion, stunt performers, including 25-year-old Madhan from Maduravoyal, Dinakaran (24), Surya (23), Sakthivel (27), and Ram Pandey (34), a native of Uttar Pradesh, sustained severe burn injuries. Ten others suffered minor injuries.

The film crew immediately rushed the five critically injured victims to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. Madhan died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. The Otteri police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
