Navy Federal Credit Union confirmed that they are experiencing a service outage that is affecting thousands of customers in the US. On Down Detector, a platform that tracks such outages based on users’ reports, more than 3000 customers reported problems.

“ALERT: We’re experiencing a service outage that’s impacting service to members,” the bank said in a post on its X handle. “Our team is utilizing all available resources to help address the issue. Thank you for your patience.”
Down Detector shows that the outage began around 4:05 pm EDT and peaked at 5:05 pm EDT with around 3300 reports. Since the peak, reports have fallen to around a 1000, but a significant number of Navy Federal Credit Union members are still reporting problems with the bank’s platforms.
In the classification of reports received, Down Detector showed that over 67% of the reports concerned the mobile application of Navy Federal Credit Union. 21% with logging in and 7% with mobile banking.

It seemed based on the reports that the mobile services of the bank were particularly affected in Wednesday afternoon’s outage.
Frustrated Customers Complain
Several frustrated customers of Navy Federal Credit Union took to social media to express frustration at how their banking activities were affected by Wednesday afternoon’s service outage. Hundreds of posts surfaced on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Why is navy federal app down? I need to unlock my card,” complained one user.
“Will you be extending online business day hours for those of us who need to deposit a check TODAY?” asked one, tagging the bank’s X account. “Your online service has been down for well over an hour and I have a check that has to be deposited TODAY.”
“I swear to god Navy Federal im close all my accounts I have with yall … yall starting to become a sh**** bank,” wrote another.
“Navy Federal Credit Union website, app and customer services issues are being reported nationwide,” added another.
Navy Federal Credit Union is one of the largest credit unions in the United States, serving over 15 million customers worldwide. A majority of their customers are, however, based out of the US.
