After a stray dog bit several people, including a sanitation worker, in the Kakkalur area of Tiruvallur district, Collector M. Prathap directed officials to take steps to administer anti-rabies vaccination to stray dogs and carry out animal birth control operations in the district.
A press release said district officials had engaged workers of the animal husbandry and the municipality department to administer anti-rabies vaccine to 75 stray dogs in the Kakkalur and Puttlur areas. The officials also took steps to perform animal birth control on 10 stray dogs.
Mr. Prathap has ordered officials of the district administration to carry out anti-rabies vaccination drives and animal birth control operations regularly in several areas.
