The drunk auto driver who fled after hitting a traffic constable has been arrested by Banjara Hills police. The police crime team tracked the accused auto driver through his passenger’s contact number, who had used Paytm to purchase cigarettes.
Banjara Hills traffic police were conducting anti-drunk driving checks at study circle on Banjara Hills Road No. 14 on May 21 night when the accused hit traffic constable Shankar while trying to avoid him, in which Shankar’s right leg was fractured, police said.
“After checking multiple CCTV footage, the driver was cited dropping two passengers at Zaheeranagar intersection after hitting Shankar. Later, he used interior streets to avoid CCTV cameras,” a police officer disclosed.
However, we tracked him down through one of the passengers, who purchased cigarettes using Paytm. Our team collected the passenger’s number from the pan shop and tracked the driver’s mobile number linked to his Rapido auto registration and arrested him at Narayanguda junction using GPS. The accused has been identified as P. Kishan, a resident of Kolukulapalli village near the Mall in Nalgonda district, police said.
DCM driver killed in ORR crash
A DCM driver died and five others sustained injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a lorry from behind on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Shamirpet on Monday morning.
According to Shamirpet police, the accident occurred around 11 am near the 57.800 km stone after the DCM vehicle entered the ORR at Ghatkesar and crossed the Shamirpet Toll Plaza. The vehicle, transporting household articles, was proceeding from Uppal towards Beeramguda.
Police said the DCM was driven by Ravi, with two others seated in the front cabin and three labourers in the rear portion. The vehicle reportedly crashed into a lorry from behind. The impact left the front portion of the DCM severely crushed. Ravi suffered grievous crush injuries and died on the spot. The two occupants in the cabin sustained injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital. The labourers travelling in the rear portion also sustained injuries.
Police said they are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident.
Three persons die, one hurt in different road accidents in Suryapet
Three persons died and another was injured in separate road accidents in Suryapet district on Monday.
In one incident, a man and his daughter died on the spot in an accident at Moddulacheruvu in Munagala mandal. The victims were identified as Keetha Rajaiah, 57, and his daughter Sunitha, 37, residents of Venkatapuram village in the mandal.
Police said the accident occurred when the two were travelling on a motorcycle from their village to a bank in Munagala and were allegedly hit from behind by a car.
Munagala police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the government hospital mortuary in Kodad for postmortem examination.
In another accident near Raghavapuram crossroads at Mothe, a woman died and another was injured after a car reportedly lost control and collided with a lorry coming from the opposite direction.
The deceased was identified as K. Venkatramamma, 60, a native of Khammam. Another woman, B. Venkayamma, sustained serious injuries in the accident.
Police said software engineer K. Venkata Kishore was driving the car from Hyderabad to their native place along with his mother and aunt when the accident occurred.
The injured woman was shifted to the Government General Hospital in Suryapet for treatment.
Farmer charred to death while setting fire to stubble at his farm
A 50-year-old farmer, Badri Ramachandraiah, was charred to death while burning paddy stubble in his agricultural field at Edulaguda village in Peddavoora mandal of Nalgonda district on Sunday.
According to police, the fire spread rapidly after he set the stubble ablaze, and he was caught in the flames. He died of burn injuries.
On receiving information, the police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the mortuary at Kamala Nehru Hospital in Nagarjuna Sagar.
This is the second such incident in the past week. Earlier, a farmer, Nunemunthala Sathaiah, died in similar circumstances at Kothagudem village in Shaligowraram mandal while burning stubble in his field.
Trees in four acres damaged due to fire accident in deer park at Nagarjunasagar
A fire accident occurred at the deer park near Nagarjunasagar in Nalgonda district on Monday, damaging trees spread across nearly four acres.
Officials said no wild animals were harmed in the incident. The deer park is located beside Vijaya Vihar at Nagarjunasagar.
On receiving information, fire service personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control before it spread to Vijaya Vihar.
Vijayapuri South police and forest department officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
