Motorists travelling through the junction of Dr Radhakrishnan Salai and Royapettah High Road must be extra cautious while crossing it.
The junction sees severe traffic violations by motorists in every possible direction.
When motorists on Dr Radhakrishnan Salai proceed towards Kamarajar Salai and Mount Road, motorists from Royapettah High Road jump the signal and turn left and right towards TTK Road and Kamarajar Salai.
Motorists from Royapettah High Road (abutting Chennai Metro Rail worksite) disrupt traffic flow from these two stretches to go to Mylapore and Teynampet.
S. Karthikeyan, a motorist, says, “The traffic signals are as good as nonexistent, and the traffic police personnel remain a mute spectator to the violations. Motorists lack the patience to wait for a few minutes and negotiate the junction safely. It is better to slow down and watch the vehicular traffic coming in from all sides, even after the signal turns green, and then proceed.”
