Hyderabad: Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar here on Wednesday asked officials concerned to be on high alert in the wake of rain forecast in the next few days.
Prabhakar, who is also Hyderabad In-charge Minister, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning related to the possibility of heavy rains for the next three days.
Following instructions from the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Prabhakar spoke to the GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, Hyderabad district Collector Dasari Harichandana, Hydraa Commissioner AV Ranganath and other officials and enquired about the situation.
He advised them to take necessary measures to avoid inconvenience to people and instructed them to deploy separate staff at 141 water logging points identified in Hyderabad. The personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were also advised to be on alert.
As traffic gridlocks were reported due to the rains that lashed the city last week, he asked officials to initiate necessary steps to prevent reoccurring traffic chaos at the busy stretches.
