Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has requested the Centre to release urea allocated to Telangana on time for meeting the needs of farmers during the kharif season. He also sought the Centre’s help to develop the Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City.
On the second day of his Delhi trip, Revanth Reddy met Union Fertilisers and Chemicals Minister J.P. Nadda and Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday.
During his meeting with Nadda, Revanth Reddy said that only 3.07 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of urea was supplied between April and June as against the requirement of 5 LMT.
In view of the farming activity going in full swing and the irrigation projects receiving abundant inflows, Revanth Reddy requested Nadda to ensure no disruption was caused in the supply of urea.
He also said that 63,000 metric tonnes of domestically-produced urea and 97,000 metric tonnes of imported urea were to be supplied in July. But only 29,000 metric tonnes of urea had been released so far.
The Chief Minister requested Nadda to increase the quota of domestically produced urea for Telangana and increase the number of rakes for urea supply in the wake of the reluctance of the Indian Railways to allocate more rakes for the state.
In his meeting with Piyush Goyal, the Chief Minister appealed to him to release Rs 596.61 crore approved by the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) for the development of Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City.
He requested Goyal to provide financial assistance to develop infrastructure, mainly water supply, power supply network and other facilities which are required for the smart city.
The Chief Minister also briefed the Union Minister about the importance of the Hyderabad-Warangal corridor and requested him to sanction funds for the speedy construction of the Warangal airport. He also brought to the attention of the Union minister that the feasibility study of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada industrial corridor is under progress.
As the government has set up a defence and aerospace park at Adibatla, the Chief Minister appealed to Goyal to sanction the Hyderabad-Bengaluru industrial corridor as an aero-defence corridor. He also apprised Goyal about the government’s proposal for the development of 100 plug-and-play industrial parks, which are ready for investments, and sought the Centre’s help for the approval of the new industrial development project.
Government adviser (Sports) A.P. Jitender Reddy, MPs Dr Mallu Ravi, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, CM’s special secretary B. Ajith Reddy, coordinating secretary for Central schemes Gaurav Uppal, were present in the meetings.
