Seven eateries in Kochi city were inspected on Monday (August 17, 2026) as part of a joint food safety drive by the Health department, Food Safety wing, Kochi Corporation’s Health wing and the police.

Fines totalling ₹4,500 were imposed on shops where violations were detected. The inspections were conducted at outlets in the Ernakulam town area. The drive, aimed at preventing the spread of infectious diseases, entered its fourth day in August on Monday, according to a communication.
