Despite stiff competition from Irumudi and Toxic, Tamil star Suriya’s latest film Vishwanath & Sons is reportedly performing strongly across several centres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

According to a distributor, the film has already registered around Rs 30 crore share in the Telugu states, which is being described as a major achievement for Suriya’s Telugu market. “The film has collected around Rs 54 crore gross in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. For a Suriya-starrer, these are very encouraging numbers,” he says.

The distributor feels the film’s mature romantic theme has struck a chord with Telugu audiences and continues to attract crowds even after its initial run. “Suriya’s splendid performance, Mamitha Baiju’s bubbly character and their chemistry on screen have connected well with Gen Z audiences in Telugu states. At the same time, some viewers felt the bold theme could have been handled in a more effective manner,” he points out.

Nevertheless, Vishwanath & Sons appears to have given Suriya’s Telugu market a significant boost. His previous release, Veerabhaduru, reportedly collected around Rs 13 crore share in the Telugu states, while the latest film has set a new benchmark.

“Suriya is back with a bang in the Telugu states. He has once again proved that he has a strong following here and can pull crowds among the masses,” the distributor concludes.
