The Ukkadam police in Coimbatore have arrested three persons with 43 kg of ganja.

P. Sathishkumar (27) alias ‘Chemical’ Sathish of Kandanur near Karaikudi in Sivagangai district, G. Karthik (20) alias ‘Kakkamuttai’ Karthik and U. Rohith (19) alias Gopal of Mela Anna Thoppu in Madurai were arrested with the contraband.

A team headed by Inspector P. Gomathi apprehended the trio from Lanka Corner with the ganja consignment around 10 p.m. on Friday (June 5, 2026). They, according to the police, had come to the city to collect the contraband from a supplier to take it to another place. The police also seized a motorcycle and two mobile phones from them.

They were arrested under different Sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the jurisdictional magistrate sent them to judicial remand.

The police said that the first two accused had cases against them in other locations. Further investigation is on.
