SRINAGAR: Two Army personnel lost their lives after sustaining critical injuries in an accidental explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kamalkote area of Uri in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred in a forward area along the LoC under circumstances described by officials as accidental, prompting an immediate emergency response.
According to Army sources, the soldiers were grievously injured in the blast and were swiftly evacuated to the Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for advanced medical treatment. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, both jawans succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased soldiers have been identified as Vikram Balakrishna Chavan, a resident of Airoli in Maharashtra, and Arjun Rajindra Jadhav from Shahpur village in Karad tehsil of Satara district, Maharashtra. Their deaths have cast a pall of grief over their families, native places, and the armed forces fraternity.
Officials said the exact cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained. A detailed investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances that led to the blast. Further details are awaited as authorities continue their probe into the incident.
