VIJAYAWADA: Children and youth of Vijayawada participated in large numbers in a lively floor painting and drawing competition that the NTR district administration and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) organised at the Haritha Berm Park on the banks of Krishna River on Sunday.
The event primarily focused on Swarnandhra Vision 2047, which emphasises on government, private and public partnerships in various aspects of governance. It showcased the artistic talent of participants, who portrayed various themes displaying their cultural and creative vibrancy at the event organised along the Krishna riverfront.
Renowned artists P. Chidambareswar Rao, Kalasagar, P. Ramesh and Santosh Kumar judged the artworks.
Participants created colourful and thought-provoking works based on themes, such as Swarnandhra Vision @ 2047, the Public, Private, People Partnership (P4) Model, Say No to Single-Use Plastic, Swachhandhra, Save Water; Reduce, Reuse, Recycle; and Harithandhra.
The artistic expressions not only highlighted creativity but also conveyed strong messages of environmental and social awareness.
Speaking on the occasion, NTR district collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha said the artworks are the first step towards building a vibrant Vijayawada. He announced that such creative programmes will be organised every week at Haritha Berm Park. They will include photography, yoga, swimming and other community-engaging activities. He requested local residents and tourists to take part in these programmes in large numbers.
The collector congratulated the citizens of Vijayawada and VMC staff for winning the Super Swachhta League Award under Swachh Survekshan-2024 announced by the central government.
Speaking on the occasion, VMC commissioner H.M. Dhyanachandra noted that the competitions effectively raise awareness among the youth on crucial issues, like environmental protection, water conservation and pollution.
Those present at the event included VMC additional commissioner Dr. D. Chandrasekhar, APTDC divisional manager P. Krishna Chaitanya, Amaravati Boating Club CEO Tarun Kakani, district tourism officer A. Shilpa and AYUSH officer Dr. Ratna Priyadarshini.
