With the Lok Sabha set to take up a 16-hour discussion on Operation Sindoor, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju Monday took to X to kickstart the day and wrote: “when Pakistan crossed the red lines drawn by India, terror camps faced the fire.” The Monsoon session enters its second week following a week marked by repeated adjournments.

“Discussion on #OperationSindoor to begin today… When Ravan crossed the Laxman Rekha, Lanka burned. When Pakistan crossed the red lines drawn by India, terrorist camps faced the fire,” Rijiju’s post read.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to initiate the “special discussion on India’s strong, successful and decisive ‘Operation Sindoor’ in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam”, PTI reported

The opposition is expected to corner the government over US President Donald Trump’s “26 claims” that he mediated to avert a nuclear war between India and Pakistan, and got them to agree on a “ceasefire”. Trump’s remarks included claims that he stopped Operation Sindoor by threatening to cut off trade with India.

The Congress, on Saturday, said the debate was a long time coming, but “better late than never”.

The Pahalgam terror attack took place on April 22, but the terrorists directly responsible have still not been brought to justice, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said on Saturday.

India has made it clear that the cessation of firing and military activity targeted at Pakistan was paused after “direct contact” between the directors general of military operations (DGMOs) of both nations, at the instance of Islamabad.
