نفت سفيرة الكويت لدى الولايات المتحدة، الشيخة الزين الصباح، ما ورد في تقرير لصحيفة «وول ستريت جورنال» بشأن مشاركة الكويت في عمليات عسكرية ضد إيران، ووصفت تلك الادعاءات بأنها «باطلة جملة وتفصيلاً». وأوضحت السفيرة أن الكويت لم تشارك في أي عمليات عسكرية ضد إيران، ولم تسمح باستخدام أراضيها أو مجالها الجوي أو مياهها الإقليمية لشن أي عمليات هجومية.
وبحسب وكالة الأنباء الكويتية «كونا» فإن الشيخة الزين الصباح بعثت برسالة رسمية إلى هيئة تحرير صحيفة «وول ستريت جورنال» رداً على تقرير تضمن ادعاءات باطلة بشأن مشاركة دولة الكويت في عمليات عسكرية ضد إيران. وجددت التأكيد على أن «موقف دولة الكويت كان ولا يزال ثابتاً وواضحاً وعلنياً طوال الأزمة الإقليمية الراهنة، ويرتكز على مبادئ راسخة تتمثل في احترام القانون الدولي، وصون سيادة الدول، وتعزيز علاقات حسن الجوار، وتسوية النزاعات بالوسائل السلمية من خلال الحوار والدبلوماسية».
ودعت السفيرة صحيفة «وول ستريت جورنال» إلى تصحيح ما ورد في التقرير بما يعكس حقيقة موقف الكويت وسياساتها، مؤكدة أن «الدقة في نقل الوقائع -لا سيما في ظل التوترات الإقليمية- ليست مجرد مسؤولية صحفية بل تمثل ضرورة للحفاظ على الاستقرار الإقليمي ولضمان عدم تضليل الرأي العام بشأن القضايا المتعلقة بالسلم والأمن الدوليين».
وأوضحت أن دولة الكويت بحكم موقعها في منطقة تحملت على مدى عقود التكاليف الإنسانية والاقتصادية الباهظة للنزاعات، تؤمن بأن الأمن الإقليمي لا يتحقق عبر التصعيد، وإنما من خلال خفض التوتر، وضبط النفس، والانخراط في حوار دبلوماسي جاد ومستدام، وهي المبادئ التي ما زالت تشكل الأساس الذي تستند إليه السياسة الخارجية لدولة الكويت.
The Kuwaiti Ambassador to the United States, Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah, denied what was reported in a Wall Street Journal article regarding Kuwait’s involvement in military operations against Iran, describing those claims as “entirely false.” The ambassador clarified that Kuwait has not participated in any military operations against Iran and has not allowed the use of its territory, airspace, or territorial waters for any offensive operations.
According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah sent an official message to the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal in response to a report that included false claims about Kuwait’s involvement in military operations against Iran. She reiterated that “Kuwait’s position has been, and remains, consistent, clear, and public throughout the current regional crisis, based on solid principles that include respecting international law, preserving the sovereignty of states, promoting good neighborly relations, and resolving disputes through peaceful means via dialogue and diplomacy.”
The ambassador called on the Wall Street Journal to correct what was stated in the report to reflect the true position and policies of Kuwait, emphasizing that “accuracy in reporting facts—especially in light of regional tensions—is not just a journalistic responsibility but a necessity for maintaining regional stability and ensuring that public opinion is not misled regarding issues related to international peace and security.”
She explained that the State of Kuwait, due to its location in a region that has borne the heavy humanitarian and economic costs of conflicts for decades, believes that regional security is not achieved through escalation, but rather through de-escalation, restraint, and engaging in serious and sustainable diplomatic dialogue, principles that continue to form the foundation of Kuwait’s foreign policy.
