صوّت أعضاء المحكمة الجنائية الدولية على إعفاء المدعي العام كريم خان من منصبه، خلال اقتراع سري أُجري بمقر الأمم المتحدة في مدينة نيويورك.
وبحسب مصادر دبلوماسية، أيدت أكثر من 80 دولة، من أصل 125 دولة عضوة في المحكمة، قرار إعفاء خان، في خطوة جاءت على خلفية اتهامات وُجهت إليه، في حين نفى المدعي العام ارتكاب أي مخالفات.
وأكد فريق الدفاع عن خان أن الإجراءات التي أفضت إلى التصويت شابتها مخالفات قانونية وإجرائية، معتبرًا أنها افتقرت إلى العدالة ولم تستند إلى أدلة تثبت الاتهامات الموجهة إليه.
ويُعد كريم خان، وهو محامٍ بريطاني متخصص في القانون الجنائي الدولي وقانون حقوق الإنسان، المدعي العام للمحكمة الجنائية الدولية منذ توليه المنصب عام 2021.
The members of the International Criminal Court voted to relieve Prosecutor Karim Khan from his position during a secret ballot held at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
According to diplomatic sources, more than 80 countries, out of 125 member states of the court, supported the decision to relieve Khan, a move that came in the wake of accusations made against him, while the prosecutor denied committing any violations.
Khans’s defense team confirmed that the procedures leading to the vote were marred by legal and procedural violations, considering that they lacked fairness and were not based on evidence proving the accusations against him.
Karim Khan, a British lawyer specializing in international criminal law and human rights law, has been the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court since he took office in 2021.
