فيما سحبت السلطات العمانية ناقلة نفط وأجلت طاقمها، أعلنت هيئة عمليات التجارة البحرية البريطانية، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، تلقيها بلاغاً عن حادث جديد في مضيق هرمز، تمثل في تعرض سفينة لضربة بمقذوف مجهول أثناء وجودها في الممر المائي.
وقالت الهيئة البريطانية: إنها تلقت من مصدر موثوق بلاغاً عن إصابة السفينة بمقذوف لم تحدد طبيعته أو مصدره، مبينة أن البلاغ عن الواقعة ورد إليها في وقت متأخر، دون الكشف على الفور عن توقيت وقوع الحادث أو الموقع الدقيق للسفينة داخل مضيق هرمز.
وذكرت الهيئة أنه لا وجود لأي تقارير تفيد بوقوع أضرار بيئية نتيجة الحادث، لكنها لم تكشف اسم السفينة أو العلم الذي ترفعه أو طبيعة حمولتها، كما لم تتوافر على الفور معلومات بشأن وضع أفراد طاقمها.
من جانبها، أعلن مركز الأمن البحري العُماني، اليوم، سحب ناقلة نفط إلى أحد موانئ السلطنة بعد اندلاع حريق في غرفة المحركات إثر تعرضها لهجوم قبالة سواحلها.
وأضاف المركز، في بيان، أنه تم إجلاء 23 فرداً من طاقم الناقلة «إلجايا»، فيما تتواصل عمليات البحث عن اثنين من أفراد الطاقم لا يزالان في عداد المفقودين.
وذكر المركز أنه تم قطر ناقلة النفط «إلجايا»، التي ترفع علم بنما، إلى أحد الموانئ في سلطنة عُمان عقب إخماد حريق اندلع في غرفة محركاتها إثر تعرّضها للاستهداف في وقت سابق، وذلك على بُعد 103 أميال بحرية شمال شرقي محافظة مسندم.
يأتي ذلك، بعد أيام من إعلان هيئة عمليات التجارة البحرية البريطانية تعرض سفينة أخرى لمقذوف مجهول أثناء عبورها مضيق هرمز.
ويعد مضيق هرمز ممراً رئيسياً لحركة الملاحة وناقلات الطاقة، فيما تتزامن الحوادث الأخيرة مع تصاعد المخاطر التي تواجه حركة السفن في المنطقة.
While Omani authorities pulled a tanker and evacuated its crew, the UK Maritime Trade Operations reported today (Tuesday) that it received a notification about a new incident in the Strait of Hormuz, involving a ship being struck by an unknown projectile while in the waterway.
The British agency stated that it received a report from a reliable source about the ship being hit by a projectile whose nature or origin was not specified, noting that the report about the incident came to it late, without immediately disclosing the timing of the incident or the exact location of the ship within the Strait of Hormuz.
The agency mentioned that there are no reports of environmental damage resulting from the incident, but it did not disclose the name of the ship, the flag it flies, or the nature of its cargo, and information regarding the status of its crew members was not immediately available.
For its part, the Omani Maritime Security Center announced today the towing of an oil tanker to one of the Sultanate’s ports after a fire broke out in the engine room following an attack off its coasts.
The center added in a statement that 23 crew members from the tanker “Eljaya” were evacuated, while search operations continue for two crew members who are still missing.
The center noted that the oil tanker “Eljaya,” which flies the Panama flag, was towed to one of the ports in the Sultanate of Oman after the fire in its engine room was extinguished following being targeted earlier, about 103 nautical miles northeast of Musandam Governorate.
This comes days after the UK Maritime Trade Operations announced that another ship was struck by an unknown projectile while crossing the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz is a major route for maritime traffic and energy tankers, while the recent incidents coincide with the rising risks facing shipping operations in the region.
