شهد محيط الجامع الكبير في مدينة كسلا (شرقي السودان)، أمس الثلاثاء، واقعة مثيرة للقلق بعدما تسلّق شاب أحد أعمدة الكهرباء في محاولة لإنهاء حياته، ما أثار حالة من الاضطراب بين الأهالي الذين سارعوا إلى التجمع في المكان ومحاولة ثنيه عن قراره.
وتُظهر مقاطع مصوّرة متداولة لحظات التوتر التي عاشها الحضور، إذ ظل الشاب معرّضًا لخطر السقوط أو الصعق، بينما بذل عدد من المواطنين جهودًا مضنية لإقناعه بالنزول. وبعد محاولات متواصلة، تمكن متطوعون من الوصول إليه وإنزاله بسلام وتسليمه للسلطات.
غير أن المشهد أخذ منحى غير متوقع، إذ أفادت مصادر محلية بأن بعض الموجودين انهالوا على الشاب بالضرب عقب إنقاذه، قبل أن تتدخل الجهات المختصة وتضعه تحت حمايتها.
وأثارت الحادثة موجة استياء واسعة في كسلا، وسط مطالبات بتوفير دعم نفسي عاجل للشاب بدلاً من تعريضه للعنف، خاصة في ظل غياب معلومات دقيقة حول الدوافع التي قادته إلى محاولة الانتحار، بين روايات تتحدث عن ضغوط اجتماعية وأخرى تشير إلى أسباب عاطفية.
The area around the Grand Mosque in the city of Kassala (eastern Sudan) witnessed a troubling incident yesterday, Tuesday, when a young man climbed one of the electricity poles in an attempt to end his life, causing a state of disturbance among the locals who hurried to gather at the scene and try to dissuade him from his decision.
Videos circulating show the tense moments experienced by those present, as the young man remained at risk of falling or electrocution, while several citizens made strenuous efforts to convince him to come down. After continuous attempts, volunteers managed to reach him, safely bringing him down and handing him over to the authorities.
However, the scene took an unexpected turn, as local sources reported that some of those present began to beat the young man after he was rescued, before the relevant authorities intervened and placed him under their protection.
The incident sparked widespread outrage in Kassala, with calls for urgent psychological support for the young man instead of exposing him to violence, especially in light of the lack of accurate information regarding the motives that led him to attempt suicide, with some accounts mentioning social pressures and others pointing to emotional reasons.
