Doha: The Qatari Amiri Diwan has mourned the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who died on Sunday morning at the age of 74.

In a statement carried by the Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Amiri Diwan said: “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. ‘O reassured soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him]. Enter among My servants and enter My Paradise.’ Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

With hearts that believe in Allah’s will and decree, the Amiri Diwan mourns the passing of the nation’s great leader, the late His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who passed away this morning, Sunday, 27 Muharram 1448 AH, corresponding to July 12, 2026, at the age of 74.

May Allah envelop the nation’s great departed in His vast mercy and forgiveness and grant him a place in His spacious Paradise among the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs and the righteous, and excellent are those as companions. May Allah reward him on our behalf with the best reward for the great and enduring contributions he rendered to his country and to the Arab and Islamic nation, and inspire us all with patience and solace.

Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return.”
