Saudi Arabia warns of heavy penalties for visa overstayers during Hajj season

Fines up to SAR 50,000, jail terms and deportation for violations as authorities tighten pilgrimage regulations

Riyadh: The Saudi Arabia Ministry of Interior has emphasised that expatriates who overstay their visas will face fines of up to SAR 50,000, imprisonment of up to six months, and deportation, according to a SPA report.

The ministry urged all individuals to comply with the regulations governing the 1447 AH Hajj season and to cooperate with the relevant authorities to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims. It stressed that violators of these regulations will be subject to legal penalties.

The ministry also called on the public to report violations by dialling 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern Region, and 999 in other parts of the Kingdom.
