Dubai: The US military said it has concluded its latest round of airstrikes against Iran, including strikes targeting Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard following an attack that killed American troops in Jordan.

In a statement, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the operation also targeted Iranian military coastal surveillance and air defence facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites.

Iran has not provided an overall assessment of its military losses resulting from the US campaign.

The military action comes as the conflict between Washington and Tehran enters its eighth day, with both sides competing for control of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway through which roughly one-fifth of globally traded oil and natural gas passes during peacetime.

CENTCOM said the latest strikes were part of ongoing efforts to counter threats to regional security and maritime navigation.
