Bidar: Gandhigunj police arrested a woman and seized 38.476 kg of ganja worth Rs 19.23 lakh from a rented house in Sangameshwar Colony of Bidar city on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off that ganja was being stored in the house for sale, a police team conducted a raid and recovered 12 packets of the contraband concealed inside a plastic carry bag in the hall of the residence.
During the search, officers found several bundles wrapped in khaki-coloured tape. Upon examination, the police found 12 packets of ganja, weighing a total of 38.476 kilograms. The seized contraband was valued at approximately Rs 19,23,800.
Based on these findings, the woman was arrested and the seized contraband was taken into custody. A case was registered against two persons involved in the illegal storage and supply of ganja at the Gandhigunj Police Station under Section 20(b)(2)(C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Legal action was initiated, and the arrested woman was subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gunti commended the officers and personnel involved in the successful operation.
