Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the previous BRS government suppressed all Telangana cultural icons and democratic voices, including youth seeking jobs, and asserted that Telangana’s democratic spirit would not allow the return of what he described as ‘exploitative politics.’
“It’s unfortunate that KCR’s family that dealt a body blow to Telangana’s self-respect and ‘looted’ the State is now shedding tears on Telangana, and what best example of the suffering could there be than of late poet Andesri,” the Chief Minister claimed.
Andesri never compromised his self-respect by seeking the patronage of feudal forces and dedicated his writings to the people of Telangana, the CM recalled while launching the foundation stone for the Andesri Smriti Vanam at Ghatkesar on the city outskirts.
Asserting that his government drew inspiration from Andesri, Gaddar and Sonia Gandhi, Mr. Revanth Reddy appealed to unemployed youth not to be misled by “false propaganda” and assured them that all government vacancies would be filled.
How can the BRS question the Congress government’s recruitment drive despite failing to fill vacancies during their decade in power? He alleged that examination paper leaks had denied employment opportunities to thousands of aspirants and asserted that the Congress government had removed obstacles to complete the recruitment processes. He said around 70,000 government jobs had been filled and appointment letters handed over publicly to successful candidates.
Questioning the previous government’s record, Mr. Revanth Reddy asked why recruitments were not completed despite issuing notifications and accused the former regime of enriching itself while leaving Telangana burdened with debt.
The Chief Minister said the Andesri’s revolutionary songs had inspired generations of Telangana people and played a significant role in the Statehood movement, but the ‘Jaya Jayahe Telangana’ song was deliberately sidelined under the previous regime.
Referring to revolutionary balladeer Gaddar, he claimed that attempts to silence Andesri and humiliate Gaddar had strengthened public resolve to end “feudal rule” in the State.
The Chief Minister also highlighted steps taken by his government to honour personalities associated with the Telangana movement. He said Shankaramma had been appointed as a member of the State Women’s Commission, along with a granddaughter of Chityala Ailamma, while M. Kodandaram had been nominated to the Legislative Council. He also noted that nine poets had recently been honoured with cash awards of ₹1 crore each.
