New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Tuesday sacked spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya following a controversy over multiple videos that allegedly showed him skipping the protest march during police action and later eating a burger while mocking critics who questioned his absence.
He also shared a video where he is shown eating biscuits and stating that you get different snacks at the Jantar Mantar protest site on his Instagram handle.
In a statement posted on X, the party distanced itself from Dahiya’s conduct, saying it did not reflect CJP’s principles and values.
We strongly condemn the deeply insensitive actions of our spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya, whose videos surfaced while peaceful protestors and our team were facing brutal police violence. Such conduct is unacceptable, shows a complete lack of judgment, and is wholly inconsistent with the values and principles of our movement. In response, we are removing Vijeta Dahiya as spokesperson of the Cockroach Janta Party and relieving him of all official duties, they wrote.
A female student injured during the CJP’s ‘Sansad Chalo’ march on Monday is reportedly in a critical condition and is undergoing treatment in the ICU at Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital. Clashes broke out between protesters and security personnel on Monday during the protest march to press for Education Minister Dharmesh Pradhan’s resignation. The CJP accused the Delhi Police of using excessive force against protesters.
