BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao accused the Congress of double

standards, questioning why youth protests in Jharkhand, ruled by the JMM, a

Congress ally, were being ruthlessly suppressed while the same party created

a false narrative in NDA-ruled states. He demanded that Opposition leader

Rahul Gandhi stop disrupting Parliament and face a debate on the issue

instead of creating “chaos”.

Addressing a press conference at the state BJP office, Rao said Rahul Gandhi

had “nothing to do with the future of students” and was practising “politics

of convenience”. He asked why Gandhi, after showing “fake sympathy” in

Delhi, was not visiting Jharkhand to “wipe the tears” of students facing

police action. “The entire country is watching how students in Jharkhand are

waging a peaceful, dignified and disciplined struggle. There is no indecent

language or abusive slogans, yet the Congress–JMM government is mercilessly

committing atrocities,” Rao alleged.

He claimed that 90 per cent of those who participated in the Congress-backed

protest in Delhi over the NEET paper leak were outsiders, with anti-national

and “azadi” slogans being raised. Rao said Union education minister

Dharmendra Pradhan had resigned taking moral responsibility for the NEET

incident, but the Jharkhand government was not owning up to paper leaks

there.

“Rahul Gandhi does not want the Home Minister to answer in the House. He is

terrified that if a debate takes place and all facts are presented, his lies

will be exposed,” Rao said, adding, “Don’t run, don’t hide. Face the debate

and face the facts.”

On the Rajiv Rahadari (SH-1) elevated corridor expansion, Rao joined

protesting residents in Karkhana and demanded fair, market-linked

compensation for those losing land and property. He said people were not

opposing development but sought compensation on par with enhanced rates in

Thumkunta, noting that Karkhana was a costlier urban zone. “The government

must recognise the sacrifice of victims giving up properties for public

purposes and increase compensation appropriately,” he said.
