WARANGAL: The special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has entered its final phase across the six erstwhile Warangal districts, with district administrations intensifying efforts to ensure maximum voter participation before the deadline.

With a week left for completion of the exercise, Collectors of Hanamkonda, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Jangaon districts are closely monitoring the revision process. Political party representatives, Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are also conducting door-to-door awareness campaigns to encourage eligible voters to submit applications.

Collectors are reviewing the number of applications received every day and directing officials to upload all pending forms without delay. Special camps have been organised to facilitate new voter registration, correction of electoral details, change of address and deletion of the names of deceased voters.

Officials said the revision exercise has progressed faster in rural areas than in urban centres. While the uploading of applications in towns and cities has reached 55 to 60 per cent, rural areas have recorded a higher response.

According to election officials, the trend is partly due to some voters having registrations in both urban areas and their native villages, with many opting to retain their names in rural constituencies.

Officials said agricultural activities, intermittent rainfall and field-level government programmes have affected the pace of the exercise in some areas. However, they expressed confidence that 100 per cent coverage would be achieved within the stipulated timeframe through intensified monitoring and special action plans.

Election authorities urged eligible voters to submit their applications well before the deadline, stating that efforts are underway to dispose of all pending applications and complete the SIR exercise across the erstwhile Warangal districts.
