Hyderabad: Pothuraju Sridhar rode Dilano brilliantly to take the title in the Show Jumping 110-115 cm Championship class at the 2nd Telangana State Equestrian Championship which concluded on Sunday evening at the Hyderabad Polo & Riding Club in Gandipet.

Sauryaram Indukuri on Happyness and Mohammed Amaan Ali on Flying Champ followed Sridhar on the podium.

Sixteen state titles were decided over Saturday and Sunday, from the Under 12 Hacks and the 40 cm entry classes — kept deliberately affordable so that beginners on club horses can compete for a state medal — to the 110-115 cm Open.

Sauryaram Indukuri was the rider of the Championship. Over the two days he and Happyness won the 100-105 cm Under 18 and the 80-90 cm Under 14 state titles and finished second in the 110-115 cm Open. Sauryaram added a third place on Peter Bolt in the 60 cm Open.

Dilano, ridden by three different riders, was the horse of the week — first in the 100-105 cm Open under Abdul Manan on Saturday, first in the 80-90 cm Open under Aarnav Reddy and first in the 110-115 cm Open under Pothuraju Sridhar on Sunday.

Siddharth Dutta won the Children-I Dressage on Wilbur with his second horse, Burning Arrow, in second place, and Dhruva Potineni won both the Children-II Dressage on Grace and the 60 cm Under 12 Show Jumping on Sin.

For host club HPRC, Ananya Gupta won four state medals — second and third in the Children-II Dressage on Achilles and Sky, and second and third in the 80-90 cm Under-12 Show Jumping on Achilles and Brave Indian while Gautam Sanjay Sujanaani took the Junior Dressage title on Airstrike. Among HPRC’s youngest riders, Luv Manne was second in the 40 cm Under-12 on Duke and Vir Reddy on Trustful and Akira Manne on Baretta shared third place in the Under-12 Hacks.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud; P. Uday Kumar, IAS, GHMC Zonal Commissioner; and Ch Srinivas, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Serilingampally Zone, Cyberabad, presented the medals to the winners on the HPRC lawns.

“Two years ago Telangana’s riders had to travel out of the state to be ranked. This weekend 16 state titles were decided at home, in front of their families, and the youngest medallist was in the Under 12 Hacks,” said HPRC President Chaitania R. Kumar.
