وصف وزير المياه والطاقة الإثيوبي هابتامو إتيفا اليوم (الخميس) اتهامات مصر بشأن التفاوض حول سد النهضة بأنها «غير مبررة» ولا أساس لها من الصحة.
وقال إتيفا في تصريحات لوسائل إعلام إثيوبية: «الاتهامات المصرية حول سد النهضة غير مبررة»، داعياً القاهرة للعودة إلى المفاوضات.
وأكد وزير المياه والطاقة الإثيوبي أن مصر ستستفيد أكثر من خلال الاتفاقيات السابقة بدلاً من الاستمرار في الادعاءات غير الواقعية ضد المشروع، مبيناً أن سد النهضة مشروع قاري يرمز إلى التعاون والاعتماد على الذات، ويجب النظر إليه كنعمة بدلاً من تهديد للدول الواقعة في أدنى المجرى.
وعزا وزير الطاقة الإثيوبي أسباب انخفاض منسوب النيل إلى انخفاض نسبة الأمطار، معتبراً أن الاتهامات ضد السد هي حملة مبنية على روايات لا يمكنها أن تقاوم الأدلة العلمية والحقائق.
وأثار تداول وسائل إعلام إثيوبية نية أديس أبابا بناء ثلاثة سدود جديدة على النيل الأزرق حالة من الغضب في مصر، وسط تحذيرات متزايدة من تفاقم الأزمة والتوتر بين القاهرة والخرطوم من جهة وأديس أبابا من جهة أخرى جراء تصرفاتها المنفردة.
يذكر أن السودان شهد خلال الأيام الماضية تراجعاً لافتاً في مناسيب نهر النيل، ما أدى لتصاعد المخاوف بشأن إدارة الموارد المائية مع دخول إثيوبيا مرحلة التخزين السنوي الجديدة في سد النهضة، كما انخفضت المياه في مدينة دنقلا ومناطق أخرى بالخرطوم ونهر النيل والولاية الشمالية إلى مستويات غير مسبوقة، وباتت طرمبات الري بعيدة عن مجرى النهر، الأمر الذي يهدد الإمدادات المائية للمشاريع الزراعية.
The Ethiopian Minister of Water and Energy, Habtamu Etyfa, described today (Thursday) Egypt’s accusations regarding negotiations over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam as “unjustified” and baseless.
Etyfa stated in remarks to Ethiopian media: “The Egyptian accusations regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam are unjustified,” calling on Cairo to return to negotiations.
The Ethiopian Minister of Water and Energy confirmed that Egypt would benefit more from previous agreements rather than continuing to make unrealistic claims against the project, indicating that the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is a continental project symbolizing cooperation and self-reliance, and should be viewed as a blessing rather than a threat to downstream countries.
Etyfa attributed the decline in the Nile’s water levels to reduced rainfall, considering that the accusations against the dam are a campaign based on narratives that cannot withstand scientific evidence and facts.
The circulation of Ethiopian media regarding Addis Ababa’s intention to build three new dams on the Blue Nile has sparked anger in Egypt, amid increasing warnings of escalating tensions between Cairo and Khartoum on one side and Addis Ababa on the other due to its unilateral actions.
It is worth noting that Sudan has recently witnessed a significant drop in the Nile River levels, raising concerns about water resource management as Ethiopia enters the new annual storage phase at the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. Water levels in the city of Dongola and other areas in Khartoum, the Nile River, and the Northern State have fallen to unprecedented levels, causing irrigation pumps to be far from the river’s course, which threatens water supplies for agricultural projects.
