فيما تواصل الولايات المتحدة تشديد الحصار البحري على الموانئ الإيرانية، أفصحت مصادر إسرائيلية أن أمريكا وإسرائيل تدرسان فرض حصار بري على إيران، بعد استنفاد واشنطن الخيارات المتاحة في الإستراتيجية العسكرية الحالية لفتح مضيق هرمز، وفق ما كشفت صحيفة «ديلي تلغراف».
وأكدت الصحيفة أن الحصار البري أحد الخيارات المطروحة لممارسة ضغط اقتصادي على إيران، لكن الخطة ستتطلب من الولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل الضغط على جيران إيران لإغلاق المعابر الحدودية أو تقييد العبور، ما يقيّد التجارة مع الجمهورية الإيرانية.
وذكرت الصحيفة أن باكستان والعراق، اللذين لا يعتبران حليفين وثيقين لواشنطن في المنطقة، قد يصبحان «حلقات ضعيفة».
واعتبرت الصحيفة البريطانية أن دولاً أخرى مجاورة لإيران، أذربيجان وأرمينيا وأفغانستان وتركمانستان وتركيا، تواجه خطر اتخاذ طهران إجراءات مضادة، بما في ذلك إجراءات عسكرية، في حال موافقتها على الخطة الأمريكية الإسرائيلية.
وأكدت أن إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب تدرس توسيع عملياتها العسكرية ضد إيران عبر حملة جوية مكثفة قد تمتد بين 10 أيام وأسبوعين، في وقت تتواصل المفاوضات بين واشنطن وطهران، وفق ما أعلنت باكستان.
ونقلت صحيفة «وول ستريت جورنال» عن مصادر مطلعة، أن قائد القيادة المركزية الأمريكية (سنتكوم) الأدميرال براد كوبر أعد خطة لشن حملة جوية واسعة تستهدف مراكز القيادة ومنشآت الصواريخ والطائرات المسيّرة التابعة للحرس الثوري، انطلاقاً من قناعته بأن الضربات المحدودة لم تنجح في وقف الهجمات الإيرانية أو ردع طهران عن تهديد الملاحة في مضيق هرمز واستهداف القوات الأمريكية في المنطقة.
وطرح كوبر خياراً يقوم على تصعيد سريع ومركّز يهدف إلى تقليص القدرات الصاروخية الإيرانية بدرجة كبيرة، بما يقلل الحاجة إلى استخدام المزيد من صواريخ الاعتراض الأمريكية، عبر إضعاف قدرة إيران على تنفيذ هجمات جديدة.
إلا أن الرئيس ترمب لم يحسم موقفه بعد، إذ يدرس خيارين متوازيين: المضي في حملة جوية تستمر من 10 إلى 14 يوماً، أو الاكتفاء برد عسكري محدود يتيح استمرار المسار الدبلوماسي.
وبدأت الجولة الأخيرة من التصعيد بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران في 8 يوليو، عندما شنت القوات الأمريكية، للمرة الأولى منذ توقيع المذكرة بين واشنطن وطهران، عدة موجات من الضربات على أراضي إيران، رداً على هجوم استهدف سفينة تجارية في مضيق هرمز.
As the United States continues to tighten the maritime blockade on Iranian ports, Israeli sources revealed that the U.S. and Israel are considering imposing a land blockade on Iran, after Washington has exhausted the available options in the current military strategy to open the Strait of Hormuz, according to what the “Daily Telegraph” disclosed.
The newspaper confirmed that the land blockade is one of the options proposed to exert economic pressure on Iran, but the plan will require the United States and Israel to pressure Iran’s neighbors to close border crossings or restrict transit, which would limit trade with the Iranian republic.
The newspaper mentioned that Pakistan and Iraq, which are not considered close allies of Washington in the region, could become “weak links.”
The British newspaper considered that other neighboring countries of Iran, such as Azerbaijan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Turkey, face the risk of Tehran taking countermeasures, including military actions, if they agree to the U.S.-Israeli plan.
It confirmed that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is considering expanding its military operations against Iran through an intensive air campaign that could last between 10 days and two weeks, while negotiations between Washington and Tehran continue, according to what Pakistan announced.
The “Wall Street Journal” reported from informed sources that U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Admiral Brad Cooper has prepared a plan to launch a wide air campaign targeting command centers and missile and drone facilities belonging to the Revolutionary Guard, based on his conviction that limited strikes have not succeeded in stopping Iranian attacks or deterring Tehran from threatening navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and targeting U.S. forces in the region.
Cooper proposed an option based on a rapid and concentrated escalation aimed at significantly reducing Iran’s missile capabilities, thereby decreasing the need to use more U.S. interceptors by weakening Iran’s ability to carry out new attacks.
However, President Trump has not yet made a decision, as he is considering two parallel options: proceeding with an air campaign lasting from 10 to 14 days, or opting for a limited military response that allows for the continuation of the diplomatic path.
The latest round of escalation between the United States and Iran began on July 8, when U.S. forces, for the first time since the memorandum was signed between Washington and Tehran, launched several waves of strikes on Iranian territory in response to an attack targeting a commercial ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
