France has announced an increase in its humanitarian aid to Yemen, in a new step aimed at supporting the population facing difficult humanitarian and economic conditions, amid the ongoing repercussions of the crisis that has been ravaging the country for years.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot revealed today (Tuesday) that his country will allocate an additional 3 million euros to support the Yemeni people, raising the total French aid to Yemen to more than 7 million euros during the year 2026, according to what was reported by the Reuters agency.
This step comes as part of France’s policy aimed at continuing to provide humanitarian support to the populations affected by the conflict and enhancing the capacity of humanitarian organizations to respond to the increasing needs in various Yemeni regions.
The priorities of French aid to Yemen include vital sectors, including healthcare, combating malnutrition, assisting the most vulnerable groups, as well as supporting local social and economic needs and protecting human rights. France has been increasing its humanitarian aid to Yemen since 2019, according to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Yemen is facing one of the most complex humanitarian crises, with the effects of years of war continuing to impact the economy, basic services, and food security, making international aid a crucial element in supporting millions of Yemenis.
The French policy towards Yemen is not limited to the humanitarian aspect; Paris also emphasizes its support for the diplomatic efforts led by the United Nations to reach a political solution to the crisis. The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that Paris supports the efforts of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen and advocates for a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement.
The recent French announcement reflects Paris’s continued interest in the Yemeni file, especially in light of the need to provide essential aid to the population and enhance the international response to the humanitarian crisis, alongside efforts aimed at achieving stability and peace in the country.
