Countries call Iran attacks unjustified and unacceptable, pledges continued support to the UAE

Top nations and international bodies across the world joined UAE in condemning the resumption of brutal and unprovoked Iranian missile and drone attacks on civilian infrastructure in the UAE on Monday. The UAE air defence systems successfully engaged multiple aerial threats on May 4, 2026, intercepting ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, according to the Ministry of Defence. In a separate incident, a fire broke out in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ), resulting from a drone attack coming from Iran.

Here’s a compilation of the outpouring of global support:

Keir Starmer

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday condemned the Iranian drone and missile strikes targetting the ‌United Arab Emirates.

“We stand in solidarity with the UAE and will continue to support the defence of our partners in the Gulf. This escalation must cease. Iran needs to engage meaningfully in negotiations to ensure the ceasefire in the Middle East ‌endures, and a long-term diplomatic solution is achieved,” the British Prime Minister’s Office quoted Starmer as saying.

Emmanuel Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron has condemned Iran’s strikes on the UAE, describing them as “unjustified and unacceptable” and pledging continued French support for the UAE and regional allies.

“As it has done since the start of the conflict, France will continue to support its allies in the Emirates and in the region for the defence of their territory,” Macron said in a post on X.

The French president called for a lasting solution to the ongoing conflict through reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to free maritime traffic, and a robust agreement providing necessary security guarantees to regional countries.

He specifically cited threats posed by Iran in three areas: nuclear activities, ballistic capabilities, and regional destabilisation efforts.

Germany

Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz Monday condemned the Iranian attacks that targeted the UAE once again.

Writing on his official X account, the Chancellor stated that the UAE has once again been subjected to Iranian drone and missile attacks.

He added that Germany strongly condemns these attacks and declares its solidarity with the people of the UAE and its partners in the region.

European Union

The European Union has affirmed its standing with the United Arab Emirates in the face of recent Iranian attacks, expressing its strong condemnation of these unacceptable assaults that violate sovereignty and international law.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, stated in a post on X, “Our partner, the United Arab Emirates, has once again been subjected to malicious missile and drone attacks originating from Iran. These attacks are unacceptable and constitute a clear violation of sovereignty and international law. We stand in full solidarity with the UAE and our partners in the Middle East. Regional security has direct implications for Europe.”

She added that the European Union will continue to work closely with its partners toward de-escalation and a diplomatic solution, with the aim of ending the Iranian regime’s hostilities toward its neighbours and its own people.

Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has expressed the Kingdom’s condemnation and denunciation, in the strongest terms, of the Iranian targeting — through missiles and drones — of civilian and economic facilities in the United Arab Emirates, as well as a tanker belonging to an Emirati company.

In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency this evening, the Ministry said: “The Kingdom affirms its support for the sisterly United Arab Emirates in the measures it takes to preserve its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity. The Kingdom calls on the Islamic Republic of Iran to cease these attacks, to adhere to the principles of international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, and to respect the principles of good neighbourliness.”

The Council also strongly condemned the attack on a tanker belonging to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) during a transit through the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait as a means of pressure or coercion is an act of terrorism and piracy that threatens regional stability and global energy security.

The Council called on the international community to assume its responsibility in confronting such grave violations and to adopt firm positions to deter them. It also underscored that respect for state sovereignty, the protection of freedom of navigation, and adherence to international law are fundamental pillars for maintaining security and stability. The Council further reiterated its firm rejection of any practices that undermines the security of the Arab Gulf states or endangers regional and international peace.

In a statement issued today, Al Yamahi stressed the need for the international community to fulfill its responsibility in condemning and immediately halting these treacherous attacks.
